It has been a tough summer for me personally, there were a lot of uncertainty and turmoil, unavoidable hard things to grapple with. Whatever it will be this following year, it will not be ‘business as usual’ sort of year!
And yet, in the midst the changes, I was struck by the opportunities of ‘newness’ these challenges might bring. Perhaps no one asked to be in the season of change, but in order to get up from a stuck place, I find myself seeing the possibility of new shoots, different paths to walk on, growth I might encounter… these voices seems to continue to ask me to be seen.
How appropriate to ponder about new things in the new year!
Many people do set new goals for the new year, sometimes, we end up setting impossible goals; sometimes, these goals are from someone else’s life; sometimes these goals are from a ‘self’ that are not truly ‘ourselves’. Have you ever felt that realization? that you might be living someone else’s life but your own?
I hope to say this blessing to you – and to say it to myself:
May you see the new year as a new beginning for new things to grow into your beautiful self. Instead of adding pressure for expectations that came from elsewhere, that may not fit.
What might wash away with the old year?
what might be growing?
what might you strengthen?
what might you highlight in truth?
